From March 2023 to February 2025, Primary School “Tvrđava” from Petrovaradin implemented an ERASMUS+ KA2 project titled “Following the Paths of Ancient Civilizations”, in partnership with Primary School “Grohote” from the island of Šolta (Croatia) and the National Museum of Zaječar.

The project aimed to bring students closer to the cultural and historical heritage of ancient civilizations through fieldwork, experience exchange, and international cooperation. Special emphasis was placed on exploring archaeological sites such as Felix Romuliana and Viminacium.

During the project, two student and teacher mobilities were carried out, as well as one job-shadowing activity in Croatia. The first mobility took place from May 7 to May 13, 2023, when students and teachers from “Grohote” visited Serbia as guests of Primary School “Tvrđava”. The visit included various educational activities, with a highlight being the excursion to Felix Romuliana, where students learned about archaeological site mapping techniques and the importance of preserving cultural heritage.

Digital Guide – Final Output of the Project

One of the most significant results of the project is the creation of a digital guide to archaeological sites, designed by the participating students. The guide will be used in both school education and museum programs as an innovative learning and presentation tool.
